At the Winery

The Schrapel family's history of grape growing in South Australia stretches back to 1852. In 1981, fifth generation Schrapel brothers Robert and Geoff established Bethany Wines, launching the next chapter of the family's wine story.
Located at Bethany, the winery and cellar door sit on a hillside within an old bluestone quarry where Barossa pioneers once hewed stone. Vines grow along the contours of the Barossa Ranges, fanned by cooling gully breezes in the warmer months. As well as their estate vineyards, they also source grapes from neighbouring growers in the Barossa and Eden Valleys. The winemaking is minimal intervention from vine to glass.
Bethany Wines's offering is led by their GR Shiraz, followed closely by the LE Shiraz and Barossa Grounds Shiraz. The Blue Quarry Riesling is the standout among their white wines.
